Broke, but not broken in spirit
I am broke. I lost my job because of medical issues. I filed for bankruptcy to salvage my house from foreclosure. I have nothing but my spirit to keep me going. I have an elderly mom who has dementia and needs an aid to help her with daily tasks because I cannot lift much less help her. I am a stage two Breast cancer survivor who is having a hard time surviving life. I feel I fought a good battle and no doubt, am grateful to have survived being cancer free for two years. But the hardship and now medical issues from treatment are getting the best of me physically. I’m not a quitter, I just need help. Everywhere I turn the doors keep closing. Though I am optimistic, I am tired. I feel like a fighter going 15 rounds without hearing the bell ring. I just want this broken merry-go-round to stop. I just want peace of mind for me and mom. I sold mom’s car for us to live on, pay bills. I have filed disability and I know the moneys will take time. But life keeps moving forward and I can only do but so much. I don’t want to be in the system that is broken, but I am not broken, in spirit.
